By day I'm a senior copywriter. I do ad and marketing copywriting for variety of large brands. I've written for Verizon, AT&T, Frontier, EarthLink, ADT, CLEAR, Miracle-Ear, Direct Star TV, HughesNet, Geek Squad, LifeShield, Office Depot and more.
I can't link to all the sites I wrote for because many of them change frequently due to testing. So here are a few screen grabs of the last time I could be sure all the copy on these sites was my own:
A super cool site for Verizon FiOS. You can't tell from this screen grab, but the picture up top is actually a looping video.
Here's a page for Frontier.
Remember EarthLink? I wrote a site for them too.
Here are some examples from the now redirected Geek Squad Business site I did. Their brand doesn't allow exclamation points. That was fun.
I wrote, recorded and produced more than 70 video guides and tutorials for UnitWise.com as well. I also conducted regular scripted webinars and social media seminars. Like the copy above, the videos have been replaced by someone new. You can see a sample video on my personal YouTube page here.
Sometimes I get paid to play video games. Most of the time, it’s as fun as it sounds. Below you’ll find links to my reviews in the order that I did them and the system I played them on. I update this list whenever new reviews are posted.
I also did some freelance work for CinemaBlend.com’s game section in 2008. Most of the stuff I wrote was game news, but I did get to post a couple of reviews.
I was a small business news reporter once. I don't have most of the articles I wrote because I wrote them in 2009, before the paper started putting stories online. I did nab this one that created a bit of a stir, it's about an organization some viewed as "green washing" the sustainability movement. Read it!
I also won a North Carolina Press Association award for a profile I wrote about a book store created and run by a mentally disabled young man, but since I can't link to that one, you'll just have to trust me. I can't link to the award either, but I wouldn't if I could, the printed certificate they mailed me has a typo. It reads "Tirst Place." Good work NCPA!
I also was an editor for a teen magazine right after grad school in 2006-2007. I interviewed Taylor Swift before she blew up. That was cool. I also talked to that dude from High School Musical. No not that dude, the other one, with the hair.
Finally, I write books. I've finished two YA novels. One is about the remaining sidekicks living in a world after superheroes have been killed off. The other is a contemporary, humorous retelling of the classic story of Aladdin--the mythology version, not the Disney version. I'm shopping for an agent now. If everything goes according to plan, one of those books will be on store shelves in 2015. Whoo! Get your pre-order dollars ready!
