Since I know most people will just scroll down to this stuff first I’m going to put it at the top. Here are my commission prices for a variety of projects. After you’re done shopping around, please scroll down and read the FAQs. You’ll need to read and agree to all that stuff before I start on your picture.

If you’d like to request a commission send an email to commissionaustin [at] gmail [dot] com or use the form on the contact page.

Logo/Design Commissions

Payment Information
All prices are in U.S. dollars. If client currency is foreign, send the correct amount equal to the listed U.S. price.
All listed prices are base prices and are subject to change, depending on complexity.

I prefer PayPal for all transactions. My PayPal ID is commissionaustin [at] gmail [dot] com. I do accept other methods of payment, so if you can’t do PayPal, let me know and we’ll work something out.

I require half the total agreed upon price to be paid up front. The second half will be paid at completion.

Writing Commissions
Writing is my hobby and my passion, it’s what I went to school for and what my employer pays me to do. I will accept writing commissions as long as they don’t conflict with anything I do for my employer. What do I write? Anything really. I’ve written hard news, features, marketing copy, direct mail, advertising copy, video game reviews, video game previews, poetry, children’s books, novels, interviews, blogs, and more.

The payment information and most of the FAQs apply to my writing as well. If you want to commission me for a writing project, contact me and we’ll talk.

COMMISSION FAQs

What’s with the “Starting at” stuff for the prices?
Prices have a general anchor point, but can change based on time required (I do have a full-time job too), and complexity. A sketch of a happy turtle won’t take nearly as long as a sketch of four turtles fighting crime in a New York City alley.

How long will it take you to finish my commission?
That depends on the picture. Send me an email and we’ll work out a timeline. Once we have the specifics ironed out, we’ll get started. I do have a full-time job and other commissions and projects, so keep those things in mind. Rush jobs can be done, but they’ll cost extra.

Can I use your picture for commercial purposes?
If you want my picture to be your company’s new mascot, be honest and tell me up front. Yes it will change the pricing, but it will also help me with the design process. You want something simple, eye-catching and versatile for your company, not a sketch.

Can I print my commission on a t-shirt?
Sure, go nuts. You bought the picture, do whatever you want with it, except resell it. Don’t use my art to make you money…at least give me a cut. Seriously though, it’s yours once you buy it, just don’t mass produce it or claim it as your own.

Can I have the PSD file?
Nope.

Do you offer discounts to nonprofits?
I do. Churches (any faith), community organizations, etc., feel free to ask about discounted rates.

Can I supply you with reference images?
Please do. Those are helpful if I’m drawing your kids or your beloved pet. Just remember you’re paying me for my interpretation.

Will you make changes to the picture if I’m not happy?
For logo design and commercial projects there will be a little back and forth, but again, you’re paying me for my interpretation, my vision (to use a pretentious term). Check out my gallery and the different styles I draw in and experiment with. That should give you a general idea of what you’ll get from me.

Will you do my picture traditionally, as in, not on a computer?
That depends. I prefer to work digitally because there’s little to no supply cost. With traditional stuff I have to buy papers, pencils, pens, markers, brushes, etc. It takes longer and costs more (for us both), but that doesn’t mean I won’t do it. I like traditional work, and I doodle in my sketchbook daily. If you absolutely must have something on paper drawn from a pencil that actually touched my fingers, we’ll work something out.

Can I hire you for a long term writing or art project?
Yes, but it cannot conflict with my day job. I’ve worked under contract for companies for up to 11 months at a time, so if you like my work and want to set up an long distance relationship, I’m all for it. If you’re interested in doing that, email me and we’ll iron out costs, timeline, and all that fun stuff.

Will you write for my video game website?
Can you pay me? Outside of some longstanding relationships and favors to friends, I don’t do a lot of free website writing. No offense, I’ve just been burned by one too many start-up websites.

Do you offer any consulting services?
Sure. I know a thing or two about writing, design and illustration. I know what makes a good website, how to talk to customers and how to appear professional. Need me to look at your website or review the content created by someone else and offer some pointers? Send me an email and we’ll talk about it.

I have the right to deny commission requests or terminate an agreement at any time. If the project goes south and you get crazy, I’ll refund half of your initial payment and we’ll part ways before either of us loses sleep. Gratuities are not expected, but they are appreciated.
