A Short Hiatus

Today kicks off the beginning of a very busy month. Tomorrow we close on our house, then Wednesday we leave for a six day trip to Kansas City for a friend’s wedding. I’m really not looking forward to the 16 hour drive, but the break from work and the busyness of life will be nice. When we get back it’s painting time. Since my pregnant wife can’t be around the paint fumes I’m going to paint the baby’s room at the house, then we’ll move in, then I’ll go back and repaint the walls white in our apartment (we have to repaint the walls before we can move out). Hopefully by mid June we’ll be in our home with all of our stuff. I’m going to take a short hiatus from the blog until we get done with all the moving.

I think I’m going to take this opportunity to drop Time Warner Cable. I’ll probably keep the Internet service, but we don’t need the cable this summer. Plus I’m really tired of paying them $145 a month, that’s ridiculous. Cable companies are evil, I know, but wouldn’t it be nice if they rewarded you for long service instead of increasing your bill every year? I’ve been with TWC for three years now and each year they’ve rewarded my loyalty with a higher bill. I guess it’s just their way of saying “Thanks a lot, sucker!” I might look into DirecTV this fall since I get a discount through work and I won’t be in an apartment anymore. Who knows, maybe I’ll make it through the summer and I’ll be fine with just the Internet and Netflix.

As for games, I’m almost done with Dragon Age: Origins. That game is just stupidly long. I was hoping to get it done before the move, but it’s not gonna happen. I’m ready to play some other games, but I know if I leave Dragon Age too long I won’t be able to pick it back up. I did finish Portal 2 though, and that was freaking great! Best game ever. If you like quality entertainment—not even video games, just general entertainment—you should play Portal 2. It’s fantastic.

That’s all for now. I’ll be back in a couple of weeks.
