The Year After

Last year I turned 25 on the 25th of June. It was my golden birthday, which means it was supposed to be the best year of my life. I'm not sure if it was the best one, but I sure did enjoy it.

-I left my crappy job at that crappy newspaper for a job that's more satisfying and more fun
-I ran two more half marathons
-I took a course at and learned a lot about digital art from Bobby Chiu
-I joined an awesome writing critique group-The Writing Barracudas! Meeting with these extremely talented folks is always a highlight of my month.
-I got a Playstation 3, fulfilling my childhood dream of owning all the current game systems
-I became an uncle. My nephew is really cool.
-I celebrated five years of marriage
-I went to Italy. It was amazing.

That's just the stuff I can remember off the top of my head. It was a great year, but I feel like the best is yet to come. A lot of the things that happened in my 25th year have set me up for an excellent 26th. My new job is great and business is growing rapidly (my bosses bought me a 14 inch HP Envy for my birthday, isn't that awesome?). My novel is coming along nicely with the help of my critique group. My wife and I are happy and content, and excited to see where we go next.

So yeah, the year after my golden birthday is looking like it'll be a good one. I'm pretty excited about what this next year of my life has in store. For now, I'm going to enjoy my day.
