And the winner is

The big three have had their E3 press conferences and I'm begrudgingly declaring Nintendo the winner. Why I gotta be grudgin? Rehashes man.

Nintendo presented some very cool games and the 3DS technology seems incredible, I'm just kind of tired of the same old characters coming back for the same old games (except now they look slightly different, and you wiggle a remote at them!)

Here we go again

I love that Nintendo takes chances and does radical things with some games, but I don't understand why they have to throw an old IP on top of these radical efforts. The new Kirby game looks fantastic, but why does it have to be a Kirby game? Why not create a new IP around the whole yarn thing? I know the nostalgia and name recognition will help sell some units, but I'm getting tired of seeing the same names attached to every new game Nintendo puts out.

I'm sure not everyone feels this way. I mean Nintendo has a stable of characters, and just like Disney, those characters are going to be around as long as the company is. I realize there are gamers that haven't been playing as these characters for 20+ years, and to them, these games are fresher.  Here are a few of the old IPs receiving new games in the next year or two:

-Zelda, Golden Eye, More Mario sports, Kirby, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Kid Icarus (I'll give you this one Nintendo...he was due to return), Starfox, Pilotwings
